Desiree Koontz-Nachtrieb received her primary dance education during high school at the "North Carolina School of the Arts." She graduated in 1999 with a concentration in Dance, Ballet. While at NCSA she studied extensively under Melissa Hayden, Duncan Noble and Warren Conover. Desiree went on to teach and perform as a guest artist at various studios in North Carolina. Additionally, she was a trainee at "Carolina Ballet" during the 1999-2001 dance seasons.
In 2005 Desiree relocated to Maryland to further her education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in History and a minor in Dance. Since graduating, Desiree has taught and choreographed classical ballet and pointe throughout the central and southern Maryland area. Desiree will be graduating from UMBC in December, 2011, with her BA degree in Dance. She plans to obtain her MFA in Dance. Desiree has performed with "Baltimore Dance Project" since 2010 and is thrilled to start her first season with Common Ground!
